I work as a scientist, a professor and an administrator at the CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology. My interests spill onto a much wider canvas. I read compulsively and widely, and discover new worlds and aspects of human behaviour and nature, every time I do. I write sporadically, more due to time constraints rather than a lack of interest. 

A significant identity that I also hold within is that of a mother. During that journey I discovered that my child has specific learning disorder, dyslexia, dyscalculia etc. That discovery and my quest for an understanding of neurodiversity lead to a series of articles on neurodiversity which were published in leading newspapers. This quest also led me to consolidate a general interest in human disorders to a very specific interest in neurodevelopment in my research.  

My father Anand is a highly acclaimed thinker and writer in Malayalam. His works transcend the world of Kerala and Malayalam. The purpose of translating his books was to bring his works to a wider audience, where I feel they will resonate. But I also learned to put my love for the English language to use through this effort. Two of my translations have now been published. The first translation, The Book of Destruction (2013), was shortlisted for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature in 2014. The second one Stolen Gods (2026) is just out.
